About Spades.now
Spades.now exists to keep one of the world's great trick-taking games free, fast and open to everyone. Open the page and you are sorting a fresh thirteen-card hand in seconds - no download, no signup, no waiting. Our promise is simple: bid, make your tricks, and never pay a cent to do it, on any device you happen to have in front of you.
Why we built it
Too many card sites bury a two-minute game under logins, pop-ups and a wall of ads. We grew up playing Spades at kitchen tables and in barracks-style tournaments, and we wanted a version online that respects your time the way a good partner respects the bid. Everything here runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install and nothing to update. Start with Partnership Spades, the version most people mean by the name, or jump straight into Solo or Whiz. It is free, and it always will be.
What you get
- Opponents that actually play. Our AI counts cards, reads your bids, covers Nils and hunts for sets, so a solo game feels like a real table rather than three random bots.
- Eight full variants. Partnership, Solo, Whiz, Mirror, Suicide, Joker Joker Deuce Deuce, plus 3-player and 2-player Spades - every major way to play is here.
- A daily deal. One seeded hand a day, identical for every player, so you can compare your result and build a streak.
- Live multiplayer. Face the same deal as a friend and out-bid them in real time in our head-to-head rooms.
- An ad-light, calm table. No videos jumping in front of the cards and no clutter between you and the trick.
How the games work
We care about getting the details right. Every hand is dealt from a fair, seeded shuffle, which means the cards are random but repeatable - that is exactly what lets two players share the same multiplayer deal or the same daily challenge. Bidding, breaking spades, Nils, bags and the sandbag penalty all follow the traditional rules of the game, which you can read in plain English on the rules hub or look up term by term in the glossary.
Your stats, streaks and preferences are stored right in your browser, so you can play as a guest and still keep your progress. Want to appear on the leaderboards and sync across devices? An optional account - including a quick Google sign-in - does that. You never need one just to play a hand.
The standards we hold ourselves to
- Faithful rules. Each variant plays the way it does on a real deck, so what you learn here carries straight to a physical table.
- Honest AI. The computer plays to win but not to cheat - it sees only its own hand, exactly as you do.
- Privacy first. We keep data collection light and spell out precisely what we store in our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions about Spades.now

Yes, Spades.now is completely free. You can play all eight Spades variants, the daily challenge, the leaderboards, and real-time multiplayer without paying anything, and there are no premium tiers that lock away the actual game.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. Spades.now runs entirely in your web browser, so there is nothing to download or install and no signup to complete. Just open the site and start playing.
