Terms of Play

Spades.now is a free, browser-based home for the card game Spades and its variants. These terms set out the simple ground rules for using it - how optional accounts work, what fair play means at our tables, and the limits of a free service. By playing here you agree to them; if you do not, please do not use the site.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By accessing or using Spades.now, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. They apply to all visitors, registered users, and anyone else who uses the service.

2. What the service is

Spades.now offers free Spades games against computer opponents, plus daily deals, leaderboards and head-to-head multiplayer. No download or payment is required. An account is optional and only needed for features such as leaderboard entries and cross-device streaks; you can create one with an email and password or with an optional Google sign-in.

3. Your account

If you create an account, you must give accurate information and are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done under your account. You agree to:

  • Be at least 13 years old to register
  • Keep to a single account per person
  • Not share your credentials with anyone else
  • Choose a username that is not offensive, misleading, or impersonating another person
  • Tell us promptly about any unauthorized use of your account

4. Playing fair

Daily deals, leaderboards and multiplayer duels only work when everyone plays honestly. You agree not to:

  • Use bots, automated solvers or scripts to play or to submit results
  • Tamper with the bidding, scoring or seeded-deal mechanisms
  • Create multiple accounts to gain a leaderboard advantage
  • Exploit bugs for score - please report them to us instead

Results that appear illegitimate may be removed, and the account behind them may be suspended.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the servers or networks behind it
  • Upload or transmit malicious code
  • Scrape or systematically harvest site content without prior written permission
  • Use usernames or any messaging to harass, abuse or spam other players

6. Who owns what

The service - its code, design, game implementations and written content - belongs to Spades.now. The underlying rules of Spades are in the public domain; our implementations, articles and branding are not. Site content is provided for personal, non-commercial use only.

7. Feedback you send

If you send feedback, bug reports or suggestions, you grant us a non-exclusive license to use them to improve the service. You keep ownership of whatever you submit.

8. Availability

We aim to keep Spades.now up at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled or emergency maintenance may cause brief downtime. Stats stored in your browser's local storage remain on your device and under your control.

9. Limitation of liability

Spades.now is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of data or statistics, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

10. Suspending accounts

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with or without notice. You may close your own account at any time by contacting us.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after any change means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be marked by an updated effective date on this page.
